This study used a mixed-methods design to understand the perspectives of parents and caregivers, whose children were enrolled and not enrolled in First Steps' flagship school transition program - Countdown to Kindergarten (CTK) - on kindergarten readiness. Using a sample of 380 parents and caregivers within 30 randomly selected kindergarten classrooms, this study found that children who participated in CTK, attended a preschool program, or were the first child to attend kindergarten in their families were more likely to be ready at kindergarten entry.
This study used a propensity score matched, retrospective cohort design to investigate if those who participated in a First Steps home visiting program were more likely to meet well-child visit recommendations than their like-peers who did not participate.
